Saw-whet owl audio lure construction

I've built an audio luring device out of junk I had around.

I pieced together my audio lure out of a sealed lead-acid battery, a
deck horn, the amplifier out of a pair of amplified computer speakers, and a cheapo MP3 player. The whole thing is contained within a Pelican box. It goes several nights between charges. With this amplifier I just barely get 100dB at 1M.

A few photos of the setup:

Ideas for improvement:

- Smaller speaker: The deckhorn on this arrangement is overkill.  I used it because I had it.  Something much smaller would suffice.

- USB charger for the MP3 player: A small switching regulator between the battery and the USB power pins on the MP3 player would allow charging of the player from the battery and eliminate the need to charge both separately.

- Different amplifier: This amp is a stereo amp salvaged from PC speakers.  No need for stereo here.
